EarthSoft Announces EDGE Lite on Android

EarthSoft released today its new Android-based EQuIS™ Data Gathering Engine (EDGE) Lite software application in conjunction with EQuIS Enterprise Version 6.2. EDGE Lite is only $9.99 and will run on any Android tablet with Android 2.3 OS or later.

Developed in response to the rapidly growing demand for mobile Android-based applications, EDGE Lite offers EQuIS end users an economical and versatile option for field data collection.

EDGE Lite is a lightweight option to enter field data for EDGE and requires an EDGE license. Users can configure forms and Reference Values in EDGE to use in EDGE Lite. Field Electronic Data Deliverables (Field EDDs) can be transferred to and from EDGE Lite through direct connection or through the cloud using Dropbox (www.dropbox.com). EDGE Lite allows for real-time data synchronization using Dropbox.

EDGE Lite supports real-time error checking with field EDP, capturing GPS coordinates, and adding photographs. EDGE Lite can:

Build and configure forms and Reference Values in EDGE
Copy or synchronize Field EDDs to EDGE Lite
Use GPS to update location data
Create smarter data collection forms with error checking
Capture images from camera or gallery
Support Live data collection through Dropbox
Synchronize data from multiple Android devices with EDGE

Seattle Pub Utilities chooses EQuIS for Salmon Hatchery data

EarthSoft announced a large order from Seattle Public Utilities (SPU) for multiple licenses of EQuIS™ Alive and EQuIS Enterprise 6. SPU will use EQuIS and Alive supporting the Cedar River Sockeye Hatchery managing salmon life-cycle data from a variety of sources for both natural and hatchery fish.

EQuIS will support the Hatchery’s adaptive management program for the collection and management of biological and ecological data related to hatchery and naturally spawning sockeye populations, assessing hatchery effectiveness and potential impacts. SPU provides funding and other support for operation of the Hatchery which is located near the Landsburg Dam on the Cedar River. Sockeye are not allowed to pass the Dam in order to safeguard drinking water supplied by the upper Cedar River watershed. The Hatchery was established to produce fry to supplement production from sockeye spawning in the Cedar River below the Dam.

EarthSoft will provide a range of technical services supporting SPU including development of a custom EDD format usable by the EQuIS Data Processor in Standalone, Professional and Enterprise modes. This EDD format will facilitate required data collection activities and enable users to enter location, survey date, species, counts and other data.
EQuIS Alive tables will support indices and relational functionality accommodating hatchery performance data while maintaining data integrity. EQuIS Schema changes will be provided to SPU as an XML file deployed with EQuIS.

Additionally, EarthSoft will create several custom reports containing sockeye-related life cycle and other environmental data including: Cedar River outmigration report; smolt survey statistics; adult sockeye carcass survey; adult locks survey; adult broodstock survey; sockeye harvest summary; spawner survey; lock sockeye counts; life history report; general statistics data export; release time and location; and condition factor report.

EarthSoft will provide other services including EQuIS implementation support, workflow and data management documentation, configuration, training, project management, and historical data migration.

In addition to EQuIS Alive, SPU purchased EQuIS Enterprise 6 Bronze, EQuIS Professional, and 10 EQuIS Data Gathering Engine (EDGE) device licenses. EarthSoft will provide database hosting services for SPU-owned software. Scheduled to start in late May, this project is currently scheduled for completion in late 2014.

US Department of Energy implementing EQuIS Enterprise Gold, Unlimited EDP and EDGE

Concord, MA – EarthSoft announced plans for a large-scale deployment of its EQuIS™ environmental data management software solutions for the U. S. Department of Energy’s (DOE) Office of Legacy Management; migration of environmental data for more than 90 facilities from in-house Oracle systems into EQuIS is anticipated.

The DOE purchased EQuIS Enterprise 6 Gold, 15 licenses of EQuIS Professional, unlimited Distribution Licenses of EQuIS Data Processor (EDP) and EQuIS Data Gathering Engine (EDGE), and significant services for a phased implementation beginning later this year across their portfolio of sites such as Rocky Flats, Fernald/Mound, Weldon Springs and other facilities. Many of the services will be provided by EarthSoft Business Partner Environmental Standards, Inc., from Valley Forge, PA.

The decision to migrate to EQuIS was made upon successful conclusion of an extensive pilot evaluation conducted collaboratively in 2013 by the DOE and consultant S. M. Stoller.

EQuIS Enterprise 6 provides the DOE with an extremely robust high-volume commercial environmental data management system specifically configured for comprehensive task management, data checking and loading (EDP), data validation, loading and storage from dataloggers (EQuIS Live), field data collection using EDGE, and flexible reporting and visualization including the Esri web API.
