EarthSoft Seeks Environmental Monitoring Technician

Position Title: Environmental Monitoring Technician

The Environmental Monitoring Technician uses EarthSoft environmental data collection software to assist as needed EarthSoft clients with field data collection. The technician will continuously test EarthSoft environmental data collection software on a variety of hardware platforms mimicking field conditions.

Location: Remote (Windsor Ontario, or Detroit Michigan residency preferred)


  • Assists and provides training to EarthSoft clients to collect environmental data (water, soil, air quality data, chemical, physical, and biological data, climate data) using EarthSoft environmental data collection software
  • Provides internal support for testing EarthSoft environmental data collection software
  • Installs, calibrates, uses, troubleshoots water, soil, air quality monitoring equipment
  • Provides team support via email, telephone, and/or remote conferencing tools
  • Travel is required

Skills Required:

  • Bachelor’s or College Degree in Environmental or Geological Sciences or similar
  • Minimum 2-3 years environmental data collection experience
  • Strong knowledge of water, air and soil quality monitoring and equipment
  • Ability to resolve technical problems using a variety of resources and tools
  • High initiative with an ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Experience with EarthSoft environmental data collection software considered an asset
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work as part of a team
  • Ability to work from home with access to a high-speed internet connection
  • Must possess and maintain a Driver’s License in good standing.

Working Conditions:

  • Position is based on 40 hours per week
  • Travel regularly or as required for field training, including Canada, the US, across the Canadian-US border
  • Working from home when not traveling
  • Work week schedule may vary throughout the year, including weekends, dependent upon monitoring requirements.

Environmental Conditions:

  • Training clients on environmental sampling occurs during all seasons, including winters, wet rain events, and summer seasons.
  • The technician must ensure his/her own safety and perform duties within reason.
