EarthSoft Announces SADA and ARAMS Exports

…Exports for Risk Assessment and Decision Support…

October 15, 2008 – EarthSoft today announces new EQuIS exports to SADA and ARAMS, as requested by several clients. These EQuIS 5 Professional interfaces are available immediately and will receive further investment as feedback is provided by EarthSoft clients. Spatial Analysis and Decision Assistance (SADA)

SADA is geospatial freeware package developed by the The Institute for Environmental Modeling at the University of Tennessee. SADA was built in collaboration with several federal agencies, universities, and private sector companies to incorporate tools from environmental assessment fields into an effective problem solving environment. These tools include integrated modules for visualization, geospatial analysis, statistical analysis, human health risk assessment, ecological risk assessment, cost/benefit analysis, sampling design, and decision analysis. The capabilities of SADA can be used independently or collectively to address site specific concerns when characterizing a contaminated site, assessing risk, determining the location of future samples, and when designing remedial action. Version 4.1 is available at http://www.tiem.utk.edu/~sada/index.shtml. SADA Version 5 which provides the tools for automatic data transfer will be available in December 2008. A beta version can be found at http://www.tiem.utk.edu/~sada/beta_test.shtml.

Adaptive Risk Assessment Modeling System (ARAMS™)

As part of the Army’s Installation Restoration Research Program (IRRP), the U.S. Army Engineer Research and Development Center (ERDC) and the US Army Center for Health Promotion and Preventive Medicine (USACHPPM) developed a computer-based, modeling- and database-driven analysis system for estimating human and ecological health impacts and risks associated with military relevant constituents (MRCs) and other potential contaminants of concern. ARAMS is based on a widely accepted risk paradigm that integrates exposure and effects assessments to characterize risk. ARAMS integrates multimedia fate/transport, exposure, intake/uptake, and effects of contaminants and military relevant compounds to assess human and ecological health impacts/risks for existing, baseline, and future conditions.
